Subject: Preparation of Check Sample

 

1. Prepare 25-30 pounds of check sample such that 100% passes through a +35 mesh screen.

2. Mix sample thoroughly by using the "rolling technique" on a large sheet.

3. Place 2-3ozs. in each bag by selecting random sample points on rolling cloth for each sample.

4. Seal the bags completely. Check for leaks.

5. Send two samples to each lab marked with a "check".

6. Mail to all labs around the first of the month. This will allow 2-3 weeks to arrive.

7. Submit a MSDS in each bag before mailing.

8. Canada, Mexico and other countries require additional postage. Several samples in the past have been returned because of postage.

9. Special samples should be denoted when shipped. Example: DAP contains urea and nitrate nitrogen & etc.

10. Make sure the correct product is being prepared as label indicates. DAP (18-46-0) & etc.

11. Prepare 25 additional samples and return to chairman for future use in the AFPC.
