AFPC Phosphate Fertilizer Check
Sample Program
See Change Below
for the March 2008 Sample.
- AFPC Phosphate Chemicals Check Sample
Program - Prepares, distributes,
evaluates monthly samples of DAP, MAP, and Feed Grade Phosphates
for participating labs. These programs and reference materials
are used to evaluate overall lab performance, individual technician
training, and method performance. For more information you can
e-mail the chairman of the committe(jhfalls@cfifl.com).
Program includes State Regulatory labs, referee laboratories,
and phosphate mining and chemical manufacutring labs. (Both check sample programs are free.)
- Preparation of
Check Sample by Suppliers.
- Laboratory Accreditation Program - Provides
a means of evaluating laboratories as proficient in the analysis
of fertilizers.

Check Sample format is Acrobat Reader PDF Files. You
can download the Acrobat Reader by following this path.
-
- Reporting
form in Excel for 01-2009 Screens and Hardness - Use form below
for reporting chemical analyses.
-
- Reporting
form in Excel for 0X-2008 (DAP & MAP) Note: Start using this
form for the March sample and beyond. Void all previous reporting
forms. The reporting form has been changed to include total sulfur.
Any previous reporting form will not work after the new form
goes into effect. The month of April will include a MAP with
micros rather than the feed phosphate sample. The only change
with the micro sample will be the amount of zinc reported will
be in % rather than ppm.
-
- Feed
Phosphate for the month of August 2008. Use this form to report
results. Remember the results are reported as non-oxides.
-
- Send Excel completed form by email to jhfalls@cfifl.com
- Do not modify the Excel Form by moving
the location of cells. If you change these cells to different
locations your data will not be analyzed and reported in the
final report. If you find your lab data is not listed, let us
know.
-
- Notice: Check sample results should be
analyzed on two different days, not both on the same day.
-
- ***********Most Common Mistakes in Reporting
Lab Data (Please Read)**************
-
- 1. Using the wrong method code. Do not add code numbers without results and do not
add results without code numbers. Numbers
should be used rather than the old letter system.
- 2. Changing the % to ppm or ppm to %. Report
the form requested on the spreadsheet.
- 3. Wrong method codes are used in spaces.
Ex. Under Ammonia nitrogen a code of 10.60. This code is for
total nitrogen not ammonia nitrogen.
- 4. The code numbers should be numbers not
labels. Do not use ' in front of a number. This is a label and
the automatic program will not work.
- 5. The "0" does not have to be
in front of the code. Ex. 010.60 should be 10.60.
- 6. Not using the proper spreadsheet. The
old reporting sheet should not be used.
- 7. Do not change any part of the spreadsheet.
Ex. Adding another element at the bottom of the sheet. This will
not work on the automatic program.
- 8. Sulfate Sulfur should be reporting in
the form of %S, not % SO4.
- 9. Add your lab code number at the upper
right of the spreadsheet
- 10. Do not use AOAC code numbers. Method
code numbers should be used. It would
be helpful not to include codes numbers without results. Code
numbers without results have to be eliminated before placing
into the database. Thanks for your help.
- 11. Email your results using the new Excel
Spreadsheet. Do not fax your results, unless you cannot use the
spreadsheet. ALSO, DO NOT USE HTML FORMAT IN SENDING YOUR RESULTS.
USE TEXT FORMAT IN THE WRITTEN PART WITH AN ATTACHMENT FOR THE
EXCEL REPORTING SHEET.
- 12. NOTE: WHEN ANALYZING ACID SOLUBLE BORON,
DO NOT USE BORO-SILICATE GLASS. PLASTIC WARE SHOULD BE USED.
CONTAMINATION OF SAMPLE WHEN USING BORO-SILICATE GLASS FOR DIGESTION
. RESULTS WILL BE APPROXIMATELY 200 PPM TOO HIGH. CAUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
